DiVE Into Alcohol — a biochemistry demonstration inside the Duke University Immersive Virtual Environment
NOTE – THIS TOUR BEGINS AT 2 p.m. SHARP, and is a one hour tour.
Engage in an interactive demonstration inside Duke’s immersive 3-D stimulator that shows the path a molecule of ethanol makes from a beer can to your brain, with molecular-scale stops along the way. Developed and guided by Duke students. (Limit 12! – only three people may go into the DiVE at once.)

This tour is limited to 12 people.
NC Museum of Life + Science 2pm – 4pm. Limit of 15 persons. Follow directions from the website and meet at the Main Entrance. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the outdoors, as they have a large outdoor campus as well as indoor exhibits. Activities to include behind the scenes tours of animal areas and exhibit development spaces
UPDATE 2: Larry is bringing museum minivan that can carry 3-4 more people. Will be at Radisonn at 1:45

RTI International 2pm – 4pm. This tour will likely include microscopy and use of nanotechnology. Limit of 12 persons.

DIRECTIONS to RTI INTERNATIONAL: We will meet in the Johnson Building on RTI campus at 3040 East Cornwallis Road. (The security guard has been notified, ask for directions to the building.)

Duke Lemur Center
SciOnline10 Participants will meet their distant primate cousins up close, and stinky. Duke houses the world’s largest collection of lemurs outside their native Madagascar. The Duke Lemur Center’s mission is Conservation, Education and Research (all of it noninvasive and harmless).

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE BY ANTON 1/15: I have arranged for 2 SuperShuttle vans (one for the class of students) to take you to the center, leaving the Radisson at 1pm, and another SuperShuttle van will pick you up at the center at 4pm to bring you back to the hotel.

From RTP: take 147 through downtown Durham and follow signs for 15-501 SOUTH (Chapel Hill). Exit Cameron Blvd/751, go right to traffic circle*.
From Duke: Cameron Blvd (751) west from Duke campus, under 15-501 to traffic circle*.
From Chapel Hill: Erwin Road East toward Durham, past Cornwallis, Lemur Lane appears on right just past Duke School. If you get to the traffic circle*, do a 360!
*At the traffic circle go 270 degrees around, which puts you on Erwin Road. Within 200 yards, there’s a road to the left LEMUR LANE – take it all the way to the end, through some gates, just keep going until you hit a parking lot.
Check in at the Gift Shop adjacent to the parking area to begin your tour.

The DiVE is located just off the Lobby of the CIEMAS/Fitzpatrick Center on Duke’s West Campus.
By Cab: Ask your driver to drop you at the traffic circle at the end of Science Drive, just past the Bryan Center parking structure. Fitzpatrick is on your right down a short sidewalk.

Second light is SCIENCE DRIVE. Go Left, two blocks.
Public Parking is in Bryan Center structure to the right. Enter on uphill side, facing the chapel.
Walk out the side of the structure that you entered, continuing to the traffic circle at end of Science Drive. Fitzpatrick is on your right down a short sidewalk.
